This article will cover the topic of wholesale exclusivity. It's not an easy topic to define to cover everyone in every place. So I want to clear up what it means for me and what it should mean for you.
If we currently have verbally agreed exclusivity arrangements, those have not changed.
If you have any questions about exclusivity, please reach out to me via phone or email.
What is Exclusivity?
The intention of exclusivity is to not create direct competition for your store by offering the same, or similar, items in your general area. This is a financial sacrifice that vendors like me make to offer this in order to help stores like yours.
I do expect some form of the same dedication in return. Just like you, I have competition out there. Offering products in your store that directly compete with mine is not exactly a fair trade on this matter and could jeopardize our agreement. I know that I do not offer everything that your customers might be asking for. Just use good judgement, put equal effort into selling my products as you do others, and let's be completely transparent with each other. Everything will be fine.
Do you offer Exclusivity?
I do. But it's not exactly automatic. Exclusivity is earned. It is completely a verbal agreement made between you and me. These agreements vary considerably and are done on a case by case basis.
Of course, I will not offer the same exact thing to a nearby competitor, ever.
Exclusivity is earned by showing that you're dedicating a quality portion of your store to selling my products and that you are dedicated to making those sales. I am always here to help you achieve your goals to keep selling. I am especially in tune with the glass and insulated drinkware markets. Tap into what I know.
If we do have an exclusivity agreement and your orders drop off, this could jeopardize our agreement. If you need help or have a valid reason for slow sales, just let me know. I will always be here to help you figure out a plan to get you back on track.
Exclusivity is by category.
I offer quite a variety of products. Your exclusive is typically by category unless we have other arrangements.
For example rocks glasses, stemless, 20 oz travel mugs, painted glasses, ceramic mugs, etc. are all separate categories of items. As long as you are ordering on a regular basis and a sufficient amount.
Again, If you have any questions at all about this, please reach out.
Thank you for your business.
